pHure Liquors is a small spirit making company. It is run by three scientists who have complimentary experiences in natural product extraction and identification; drug discovery; chemical synthesis; analysis; and business commercialisation. They have used their past experiences to develop a flagship gin and a range of other spirit-based drinks. The directors live in different parts of the country so the company operates at three locations: with manufacture and distribution from Conwy and Brighouse and the scientific development centre in Durham. The company is aware of its position in the communities we serve and are proud to have co-sponsored a number of charity events. We also work tirelessly to minimise the company’s impact on the environment by aiming to either re-use or recycle packaging that our raw ingredients arrive in.

About pHure LIQUORS

Prof Andy Whiting

Technical Director Prof Andy Whiting

Andy grew up in the Yorkshire brewery town of Tadcaster, where the three-day week, power cuts and ‘70s mullet haircuts combined to leave him deeply scared and with a Python-driven, sarcastic sense of humour. A love of all things science led him to study Chemistry at Newcastle University, followed by an academic career as a University Lecturer and then Professor in Organic Chemistry. That Chemistry expertise has been brought to bear through working with fellow scientific adventurers, Max and Kev, to create something special!

Commercial Director Dr Max Euan Noble

Commercial Director Dr Max Euan Noble

Max / Euan, originally a Scot, became an honorary Yorkshireman in 1977. Attending language courses he soon learned to speak Yorkshire and even think Yorkshire. Ten years in the hinterland of East Yorkshire he found the bright lights of Manchester to become a true Chemist, brushing shoulders with the Happy Mondays and other chemically fuelled beings. He shares a passion for motorbikes with the founders and having a penchant for extreme sports, he enjoys nothing more than dangling off rocks or scratching his knee sliders around the Yorkshire wonderland known as the Pennines. It was inevitable that the three bikers would turn their hand to making the kind of chemicals that people just adore.

Dr Kevin Flower

Production Director Dr Kevin Flower

Growing up in the village of Ringmer near Lewes in East Sussex, Kev developed a passion for all things chemical leading him through a degree and PhD in Chemistry, and eventually, on two wheels, to an academic position as lecturer in Chemistry at UMIST in the mid-90s. After many miles on winding roads with like minded souls and bar stool banter, the curiosity of this die hard chemist is now put to best effect by bringing pleasure to the world with others through the medium of gin. Kev is now pHure’s gin-flavour and fragrance engineer!

Our next event will be on 15th February at the Telford Craft & Maker's Market in the Mercure Hotel (it's inside so it'll be dry and there's free parking). We've Northwich market on 14th, Stafford Craft & Maker's Market on 21st and Chesterfield Artisan Market on 29th - this could change, of course!April 4th, we're at Newport Craft & Marker's market in Shropshire - at least Mum and Dad probably will be as I'm on a boys tour of Scotland's NC500. 12th April, we're at Shrewsbury. The 19th, I'll be at St. Asaph (Tweedmill) and Mum and Dad will be at Telford Mercure again. On 25th and 26th we'll be back at Codsall & Wergs Garden Centre (it's a nice garden centre anyway - and there's a decent cafe). For those interested in coffee, Lizard Lane's website (www.Lizardlane.co.uk) should be going live sometime next week - please don't remind me that I've been saying that now for two months. We are really getting close now - just a few final tweaks! ... See MoreSee Less
